3 Simple Tricks to Make Your Nails Last Longer

making nails last longer press on nail sets press on nail tips

Press on nails are so convienint and provide a more budget friendly option to keeping your nails done. However, getting them to last as long as a traditional full set from the salon is a different story. I mean, we’ve all been there you pick up a cute set from the drug store as a last minute alternative to a trip, date, or special occasion. Maybe your job does not allow for you to be able to wear nails all the time. Or maybe, you just prefer saving money and not having to go to a salon. Whatever the reason, there are times when you want them to give you that full two weeks. So how do you make them last when they seem to pop off at the most random of times.

Here are 3 simple tricks (plus a few more) that can really elevate your press on game and make those nails last longer.

1. Start with clean nails

It may seem obvious, but we don’t just mean wash your hands. Your nails have natural oils that keep them lubricated, and this is great until you need to stick something to them. If they are not free of oils and dirt, the glue will not be able to adhere properly. Solution: after washing your hands, take an alcohol wipe and wipe off your nails before applying the press ons.

2. Gently buff the surface of your nails

Heavy on the gentle. Just like when priming a wall, you need to prime your nails as well. When you visit the salon, they often buff the surface of your nails (sometimes a little too much). This is to ensure that the product has enough grip to stick to. To do this at home, you do not need a nail drill or even a rough nail file. Solution: Use a nail file or buffer you have with a fine grit and gently rub the surface of your nail in a circular motion. Blow off any excess dust if needed.

3. Use a drop of nail glue on the nail and nail bed

The trick to this is not to put enough where it will leak out of the sides of your nails. Solution: We recommend rubbing it back and forth with the tip of the glue and holding it for at least 10 seconds.

Additional Suggestions: Avoid washing hands for at least 10-15 minutes after putting nails on to allow time for nail glue to cure underneath.

Hopefully these tips help you to get the most out of your press on nail sets. Just know, perks of purchasing our nail sets is that we provide all the things you need to follow the above 3 steps.
